Palestinians vs. Israel

Israel and Hamas have declared cease fire and Israel is to pull out of Gaza within a week’s time.  Yet, even as this cease fire has been agreed upon by both sides, the Palestinian side continues to fire upon Israel.  I wanted to say “unbelievably” continues to fire upon Israel but I did not.  In fact, I expect no less than the Palestinians continue to break the cease fire as they have in the past.  Why would it be any different this time around?This is a difficult concept for me as this is the group of people I come from.  Yet, sadly I must accept what I see and not deny the evidence before my eyes.  The world seems to turn a blind eye to the very tangible evidence before them.  What is the evidence?  Israel is not the attacker but she defends herself.  She gives up much but receives nothing in return.  She released prisoners, some of them murderers, in return for two dead kidnapped soldiers who were tortured.  One remains captive.  She has repeatedly released prisoners in a good faith gesture only to receive nothing back.  She has sat back and allowed missiles to be fired upon her for almost 3 years and finally when she defends herself, the Palestinians cry to the world that they are being attacked.

To be sure, Israel is mightier than her enemies.  She has the ability to wipe them off the face of the map if she so chose.  She doesn’t but she uses force greater than her enemy in order to stop the attacks against her.  An agreement was made between Israel and Hamas for a cease fire.  Within a matter of hours, Israel was again attacked within her borders.

The world demands that Israel cease her use force.  Yet, there is not a nation in this world that would allow daily rocket attacks without retaliating with a force that would produce results.  War is not a ‘tit for tat.”  It is a means to use whatever force is necessary in order to bring a desired outcome.  Nothing else has worked for Israel and now is the time to use whatever force is necessary in order to bring peace and security for her citizens.  The Palestinians could have the same peace and security if they set their hatred aside.  Their hatred is more fundamental and of greater consequence than their own women and children, fathers, brothers; their fellow Palestinians.

The world rallies around the cause of the Palestinians but it is as if they are blinded to the fact that the Palestinians bring this chaos upon themselves.  The Palestinian constitution calls for the destruction and elimination of Israel.  They want no less than the annihilation of Israel.  They have proved, by their actions, that they will settle for no less than that.  Yet, when Israel finally is fed up with the barrage of rocket attacks against civilians and takes a measure, the Palestinians find themselves no match and cry to the world.  After regrouping, they will be back with their attacks.  Hatred permeates their very soul and that hatred will bring them nothing but devastation.  Their children will suffer the consequences of the hatred that is in the core of their being.
