Hi Margaret, like you, I also receive Spurgeon's devotionals. I honestly think that we can really gain a lot by reading devotionals -- hey, you just gave me another blog post idea :)

If you do go to Grace Gems' site, I think you will love it -- they have really compiled a whole lot of sermons and devotionals from great preachers of days gone by.

Tishrei,

Thank you for sharing this..... Mankind is so corrupt with fears and unbelief that this also makes me think of 1 Corinthians 1:18, which is equally true, depending on the person being preached to..... It says, "For the word of the cross is to those who are perishing foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

We are so blessed when Jesus gently knocks on the doors of our hearts to comfort us each time we are going through a trial or temptation..... Jesus also comes and knocks when we need to repent and when we fervently pray for those we love..... In all these times we are reminded of His nail pierced hands proving His eternal love for us in every situation.

Again, thank you..... I look forward to receiving Spurgeon's devotional in my email each morning --- maybe you do, too..... I'll try and go to gracegems dot org some time today..... That's another thing to look forward to.
