New Year – 2010
I wanted to reflect back over this year and my time on my blog. I started this blog on January 31 of this year without any real direction. I knew I wanted to blog, I had topics I wanted to write about. I started blogging with the mindset of doing it as a means to discipline myself and express myself though I knew that people would likely stumble across my blog. I sort of jumped in feet first without knowing what I was doing. I signed up for a blog without any goal
in mind and posted my first post on January 31st, the very day I signed up.
I still don’t have any real direction. Many of the topics on my blog are just topics that come to mind and I simply sit down and type out my thoughts and views on these subjects. I also read different blogs and not all that I read are Christian blogs. I comment and participate on other people’s blogs. In days gone by, our world was smaller in that we were limited in communication. Most of our contacts was more or less limited to our community unless we made that long distance telephone call or sat down with a pen and paper and wrote a letter. I’m a bit nostalgic and sometimes miss receiving a letter and sitting down with a cup of coffee and reading a letter from a friend. With the Internet, the whole wide world has been opened up to all of us and it’s right in the privacy of our homes.
As we start the new year tomorrow, I still am without direction as to where I want to take my blog. To be honest, it is only in the last couple of days that I had wondered if I should have some sort of direction. I think I will continue as I have, just blogging about my world from a Christian lens on subjects that come to mind. It has been interesting to read what I wrote back in January and see what was on my mind back then. I am sure it will be just as interesting for me to see where the new year takes me.
I know that I have touched on some controversial topics. Some topics have angered people enough to send me emails via my contact page. I did not set out to write a post simply to stir things up a bit. Like many bloggers, whether Christian or not, we write about the world in which we live and we all have our own worldview. I never seem to lack a topic. As I go about my daily life, I see something that will trigger a topic that I would like to write about and that is what ends up on my blog. Sometimes I see a search term that lands someone on my blog which triggers a topic that I had not considered.
I would like to close with a thank you to the people I have met and communicated with via email. I have met some wonderful folks blogging. I would like to say thank you to those that I have developed a friendship with via email and for encouraging me when things got a bit rough while blogging. I have learned much from your blogs and have been blessed reading your blogs and emails to me. To the people that subscribe to my blog but do not comment, thank you for taking the time to read my posts.
I have gained insights from others that I have not considered and I hope that at the very least, this blog has given you something to think about.
In the Old Testament, God commanded the Israelites to observe the New year with the blowing of the Shofar (Leviticus). The Hebrew calendar is different than the Gregorian calendar we use today. However, I would like to end this post with the blowing of the shofar.
Have a blessed New Year!

hi
Happy new year. I am young but my mom says I can read ur blog. I like ur video. Why does OT have another calander. when did they have there new year?
Happy New Year to you too Tara! I’m happy your mom is letting you read Christian blogs and I’m happy that you’re reading mine!
Anyway, the OT calendar was the first calendar. There’s a lot of history but the short story is we use something called a Gregorian calendar but the calendar that they used in the OT was the first calendar. It’s still used in Israel and the Jewish people use it to this day.
I’m glad you liked the video. I love hearing the shofar being blown.
Have a very happy and blessed New Year.

Your blog definitely has “direction”, you just don’t know ahead of time where it’s being directed. I believe you are headed right where the Lord wants you to go with it. God may not be showing you what’s waiting a mile down the road, but He is showing you exactly where to place your foot on your next step.
I look forward to reading your wonderful posts in the year to come. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for your blog
Thanks Loren. I kind of like blogging about whatever comes to mind. And you’re right, if I’m doing His will, then He’s taking it in the direction He wants it to go even if to me, I’m only writing what comes to my mind.
Happy New Year!
