An excellent sermon by Bob DeWaay on how postmodern theology undermines sola scriptura.

    Hey Blog Lady T.,

    I finally had a chance to listen to this. Great talk. His voice sounded a little too much like Al Franken (sorry if I just ruined it for anyone who hasn’t listened yet).

    I’ve followed loosely the emergent church, read some articles, listened to a ‘pastor’ from one interviewed on the radio for an hour, and read an incoherent column by another in Christianity Today. it really is about the only truth being no truth or no knowable truth.

    Reminds me of a joke:

    What do you get when you cross a Jehovah Witness with a Unitarian?

    Someone who rings your doorbell but when you answer it they have nothing to say.

      Hey, I like that joke. I’ll have to remember it.

    I heard it from Steve Brown on his Key Life radio program. I love that guy.

    What a good sermon on sola scriptura!…. The outright denials of God’s truths are spreading wildly with the internet…. People seem to be gobbling it up, thinking it sounds so authoritative and intellectual….. This is all the more reason we need to hold tightly to the salvation we have in Christ alone….. Thank you for sharing this.

      I think you hit the nail on the head. It seems with the advent of the internet, wild teachings have gotten out of hand. The one that I’ll always remember for all my days it the teaching that eating certain types of herbs in your salad can bring on demon possession. I wanted to ask the author of the website if I washed it in a produce cleaner, would I be safe? Of course, I didn’t do that but that’s the kind of teachings that are out there that people are gobbling up (no pun intended).

    Thank you for posting this video. Postmodernism is from Satan. Of this, I do not doubt. It is being used to deceive the minds of many who attend church and think they are walking in the light. In fact, they are walking in darkness because PM simply lays seeds of doubt in our minds. It is saying, “for 2000 years, we had it wrong. Only we, here, now, can discern the truth in the scripture”. What arrogance! What folly!

    On the cover of my NASB bible, I have pressed into the cover the phrase;

    “Sola Scriptura”

    so that I always remember that the Word of God is the most important tool at our disposal as disciples of Christ Jesus.

      You’re right, it is used to deceive folks into thinking they are walking in the light. It tickles their ears and they fall for it. It’s really very sad.
