Hi OkieRob, well, if my postings have motivated you to get going on your blog, then that’s a good thing. I’m glad my blog has been used by God to accomplish something good. A few days ago, I searched for your blog but was unable to find it but the only thing I had to go on was your screen name so I didn’t find it. Now I have it so I will make a point of reading your blog.

Hi, first thank you for your kind words. Second, I went to your blog and read confessions of a con artist. Great article by the way. I wanted to comment there but could not find the comment section.

god is but a word that is not followed by as many as man and democracy is the proof. Would you rather vote between two people and one wins to lead you or watch the leader the entire time they are in office to ensure law? Having a human with law would be more intelligent than picking a monkey without. That’s democracy verse civilocity. A man created civilocity by the name of Nathaniel Isaac Wenger in the mid spring of 2007. Have you found any textbooks with this form of government in it? Why is the only thing not taught in society until now, making sure the person leading the government is following the law? Why would someone be preventing that from happening?

What about the Ten Commandments in particular the 4th one about keeping the Sabbath Day Holdy (sabbath being Saturday not Sunday). I am so confused about God’s law’s being nailed to the cross; that Jesus died and took the penalty of death on our behalf. So what is our penalty if we break any of His commandments?

    • October 8, 2009

      Hi, thanks for stopping by.

God’s law is not nailed to the cross, it is the record of debt that was nailed to the cross. Here’s an explanation http://fruitoftheword.com/2009/06/18/the-law-nailed-to-the-cross-or-was-it/

As to the Sabbath, Roman 14 speaks to that.

One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. (Rom 14:5-6 ESV)

If you are convinced in your own mind that you must observed the 7th day, then do so. If another person observes the 1st day, and “observes it in honor of the Lord,” then that is the day that the Lord accepts.

If you are observing the Sabbath on the 7th day, be aware that it is not Saturday. The Hebrew calendar is very different than ours. Their day begins from sundown to sunup while ours begins as midnight and ends 11:59 p.m. So Sabbath begins sundown on Friday and ends sundown on Saturday. Their new day began when the sun set. If you start observing it on Saturday, a huge portion of the Hebrew day has been unobserved (Friday sundown).

However, if you are setting aside Saturday, then great but beware that if you are trying to follow the Hebrew calendar, you need to start on Friday at sundown.

What is the penalty if we break any of His commandments? If a Christian lies, they don’t go to hell, they suffer consequences in the here and now. God chastises His own (Hebrews 12:6).

If you are convinced in your own mind that sundown to sundown is the day that you must observe, you need to do it. If you are convinced it is Saturday, then you need to observe it. If you are convinced it is Sunday, then you need to observe it.

The Sabbath is a perpetual sign between God and the Israelites. The Gentiles that attached themselves to the Israelites in ancient days and honored God also observed sundown to sundown Sabbath. In the New Covenant, God did not do away with His moral laws but He spends a lot of time talking about the spirit of the law. He made some laws more stringent, lusting with one’s eyes was the same as adultery. That was the spirit of the adultery law. The spirit of the Sabbath is to set aside a day and honor the Lord.

I hope I made sense. And thanks for your comment.

      God Bless,

Amazing! So much truth with a tiny tare sown in it. Repeat of Gen 3: story. “Did God say you shall not…” Sundown to sundown according to Genesis 1 is original calender day. Earlier and latter Jewish faiths observed the 7th day sabbath in the temple. The congregating together on the first day of the week from house to house was to engage in ministry business in all cases cited in your blog- Paul collecting humanitarian materials for the believers in need in other places during the week. Note that they always continued to observe the 7th day sabbath and then pickup to leave after sabbath to spread the good news (ministry and outreach). The first day sabbath was not a question until Pope Constantine who, seeing the number of heathen converts in the church (they brought many of their rituals into the church and wanted to enforce them and to keep peace), needed to appease the heathens. History shows that this power (Pope at the time) effected the change of substituing the sun god which incidentally coincided with the rising of the “Son” day.
Your conclusion as to you can do whatever you please substantiates that you wish and fact that man usurped the power of GOD to make their own laws without regard to what God had established. If you love me you will keep my commandments. think deeper and lean not to your own understanding but rather on the Maker of heaven and earth. I pray that it will come clear to you as well as others who believe the way you have written. God did not intend to set aside “a day” to honor the Lord, rather he set aside (sanctified and made it holy) the 7th day (sunset friday to sunset saturday) as a seal of creation and a rest day for human kind to honor the Lord. All the other six days were good but not with the same completeness blessing as the 7th day. Now why was mankind created, to worship God. So man should worship and honor God each moment they have breath. But there is the day that you must remember to end your work and rest with God – on the sabbath 7th day (according to God’s instructions). In fact you will notice that this cycle completely rejuvenates mankind. It does not when other days like the first day or the 4th day is substituted for the 7th. Try it, you will be blessed.

I’ll start of with your last sentence, “try it, you will be blessed.” I attend a messianic congregation and as such, Sabbath is observed.

What I would like to point out is that the early Jewish believers continued to attend Temple, they met on the first day of the week as Christians.

Instead of restating everything I said here, I would like to direct you to this post I wrote on Sabbath as it seems silly to rewrite what I said here.

          God Bless,

By the way, Tishrei I am not at all religious but I am reading some of your posts, just the same. I am a Hindu, from New Delhi.

  7. October 16, 2009

This is a pious harmless blog Tishrei. It will never be marked as mature [I've tried answering your question in the forum]. So relax and keep blogging.

Hey, make the T capital in your name.

  8. October 16, 2009

Tishrei, do ask me any blogging help in future. I like struggling and learning more. I am even thinking of self-hosting but I think I will just buy the domain forward option like you!

Wow, thanks. It is arguably the most popular festival in India. I make one documentation blog on one major event. It was an instant hit in my university campus!

I did read your comment to me on “ratings” and thank you for taking the time to put my mind at ease. Your blog sounds interesting and I would like to visit it. I guess I can click on your name and be taken to your blog

  11. December 13, 2009

I read through some of your posts and I enjoyed them. I haven’t blogged in a while so whenever I have time I browse through blogs I think would be worthwhile to read and in the process I stumbled onto yours. Anyway I’m not sure what it is that I wanted to say, or why I’m still here for that matter. Thanks for the read, i suppose.

    • December 13, 2009

Hi Methodus, you’re welcome for the ‘read’ — AND — thank you for your kind words.

I can say that I also read a lot of different blogs. I don’t just write my blog but do read other people’s blogs. Like you, I read through different blogs and sometimes I stumble upon blogs that I subscribe to and read daily. I know that I am blessed and learn a lot from other people.

I am reading your blog right now and will be commenting. Hopefully, you’ll get a chance to read the comments I’m going to leave.

      Thanks for stopping by. :)

      Hi Liz,

Yes, I did get your email and I replied — did you not get my reply?

I will be heading over to your site — can’t wait to see it. And please feel free to let me know if you need any ‘technical’ type of help. I’ve been at this for almost a year here so I sort of know my way around.

I too get excited meeting other Christian bloggers. Check out some of the ones on my side board — they really have some good Christian blogs.

well acouple more things I want to get done before I call it a nite.

but blessings to you and by the way I LOVE yOUR RANDOM POSTS!!!

    Liz

  17. December 16, 2009

You too can have random posts. You do it via a widget but it does not do it automatically. You have to do it by hand. What I’ve been doing is moving up from the oldest post and putting in a new one at least once a week. This gives me a chance to see what I wrote back then and do any clean-up that I may have missed when I posted it. When you’re ready to do one, let me know because you can’t just simply cut and paste the title, you have to use HTML coding.

I saw that you were busy over on your site and you have some good posts up already. I enjoyed reading them.

  18. December 17, 2009

      • January 4, 2010

I honestly don’t remember where I got that coffee photo. I’ve had it for so very long (even before I started blogging). I’ve probably had this avatar for a number of years. Like you, I don’t feel comfortable having my “real” photo up on the net.

God bless you too and a blessed new year!

  21. December 19, 2009

To Funny!!!! I was wondering about that!!! All day I would see how it was working and it looked like everyone was going and spending alot more time at your place.

    I will take mine off.

But could ya help me get one just as my own? or is that to confusing?

    • December 19, 2009

You will have to go to the site and click on “contact us” and request a code from them. I already removed mine. You’ll also have to remove the one from your new site. I can’t do it for you but it’s really easy. Just fill out their contact form and ask them for a non-java script code for a WordPress.com blog. We can’t use java script on WordPress.com — make sure you tell them it is a “.com” blog.

I requested one as well. I did not realize it was specific to a blog

  22. December 28, 2009

feel free after we talk to delete these..

so thanks and i like yours too.

but how did you get yours to be behind with you tabs in front… i emailed ya this question but am not on email right now. did you use the forum post way?

hope ypou had a fabulas day.

    • December 28, 2009

I copied the code from the forum and found a background I like. I answered your email and I can help you if you email me the background you used. I’ll try it out on my test blog and then email you what I did so you can do it to your blog.

  23. December 29, 2009

thanks I will be home later tonite tuesday. lets pray it works on my end. that would be great.

  24. December 29, 2009

    I am home now…..

  25. December 31, 2009

hello!!!! Happy New Year to you!!! well I am done and happy for now of my results.

Now I am just going to take a break from designing and focus on the blog part of it.

I really do like this theme the best it is very flexible.

hope you are having a great day.

  26. December 31, 2009

Hi regarding the whos among us button I like it but I am not sure about it. It seems like anyone can see whats going on on my end. By my wordpress stats people have only been ckicking that and I want them to focus on where they are not on who is here or there. it just seems to public.. there are other stats out there where only you can view them.

    ( feelfreetodelete)

    • December 31, 2009

yes it is public. I like seeing where people are coming from. If you want something that is not public, you can try gostats. It’s at the bottom of my blog. It does provide a bunch of other info as well.

I took my stats off of my blog. I really am the only one that needs to see that amount — the whole time I felt kind of weird having it on there.

  27. January 9, 2010

hey thought i would jump on here it is quicker for me.

thanks for commenting about how my blog looks. i will pm ya..

  28. January 22, 2010

Thank you for the awesome Christian blog sites! they are beautiful and inspiring. Any way we can connect with others and praise God for His Grace, not ours is wonderful. For His will be done, not ours. I am still trying to surrender to God’s will everyday with His help of course!

    Blessings

      Hi,

I’m so happy you liked the blog sites I recommended. They are run by a really good group of people. As you spend time with them, I think you are going to be really blessed. I know that I have as I have gotten to know the individual bloggers.

what a joy to see that “some” christians have not bowed the knee to baal. the article “general call vs. effectual call” was excellent. i’m a five point calvinist by the grace of God.
my sadness is that there is no church (baptist, reformed or presbyterian) here in the rio grande valley, texas, that teaches these precious doctrines. pray that God in His grace and mercy will send us a pastor who still teaches “the doctrines of grace.”

    • February 20, 2010

Thanks for stopping by. I’m sorry to that there is no church in your neck of the woods that teaches sound doctrine. That’s a difficult situation. Perhaps a bible study at your home will get things started.

    Hi,

I’ve just stumbled across this blog whilst doing research for my role as a teacher. Have read a couple of posts and found them to be well-written and a decent length (most are either too long, or too short).

Personally I describe my Christianity as Charismatic Catholic, with evangelical sympathies. I love the Bible, and spend much time reading and studying it. However, the reason I could never describe myself as either Evangelical or Reformed is that I have never been conviced by the principle of ‘sola scriptura’, in particular I don’t even think it is Biblical.

However, if I ever mention this to my evangelical friends they find it very difficult to engage in a discussion about it. I understand this reaction since it goes right to the heart of their beliefs. Needless to say I would like to keep them as friends, so tend not to bring the topic up.

So as I don’t really know you from Adam, and you seem like you would not be offended (and since I couldnt seem to find an appropriate article already written by you), could you perhaps outline a defense of the principle of ‘Sola Scriptura’?

I look forward to hearing your comments.

      Hi,

Thanks for stopping by. I’m on a deadline which is why I haven’t been on my blog. I would like to discuss this with you however, it’s going to have to wait until the first part of next month before I will have the time to sit down and write a post about it and hopefully, you and I can discuss it. No, I don’t get all worked up when someone doesn’t agree with me so we can have a discussion without throwing cyber pots and pans at each other. 8)

I did post something about sola scripture v. solo scripture and it does lightly touch on the subject that you are discussing. Click here to read that post. It’s also a short post.

Thanks for your kind words about this blog. I’ll be back to this blog either next week or the week after.

On the Voltaire quote ‘Those Who Can Make You Believe Absurdities Can Make You Commit Atrocities’. The longer citation is ‘Formerly there were those who said: You believe things that are incomprehensible, inconsistent, impossible because we have commanded you to believe them; go then and do what is unjust because we command it. Such people show admirable reasoning. Truly, whoever is able to make you absurd is able to make you unjust. If the God-given understanding of your mind does not resist a demand to believe what is impossible, then you will not resist a demand to do wrong to that God-given sense of justice in your heart. As soon as one faculty of your soul has been dominated, other faculties will follow as well. And from this derives all those crimes of religion which have overrun the world.’ From Sur les Miracles, following the ‘blessed David Hume’ on the question of miracles.
Another relevant quote is from a letter to Frederik 11 was ‘Ours is without doubt the most ridiculous, the most absurd and the most bloody religion which has ever infected this world’. « La nôtre [religion] est sans contredit la plus ridicule, la plus absurde, et la plus sanguinaire qui ait jamais infecté le monde ».

      Hi Richard,

A lot of people have complained that I used this quote stating that I misused this quote because it was originally a quote against belief in God. Even so, the saying “Those Who Can Make You Believe Absurdities Can Make You Commit Atrocities” does not have to be used exactly in the context that it was initially penned. I don’t understand folks feel that I am required to use it only in the context that it was was initially penned The saying absolutely fits the subject that I was writing about. It can be used in numerous situations.

As such, I found the saying stated exactly what I wanted to convey in my post.
